With so many muffin recipes out there, it can be hard to decide which ones are the best toddler muffin recipes for your child. Here’s what I like to look for in kid friendly muffin recipes.

  • Banana base - Bananas are not only an expensive base option for toddler muffins, but they also are high in fiber, easy to digest and full of other valuable nutrients for children.

  • Freezer friendly - The ultimate mom hack is to keep muffins on hand for an easy, nutritious snack option for your toddler. Muffin recipes are super easy to double or triple making them a great option to keep in the freezer when you need a quick bite.

  • Minimal to no added sugar - I feel like this one should be self explanatory, but I don’t see any reason why we need to throw 2 cups of sugar into muffins before feeding them to our kids… so I like to find ones that have no added/minimal sugar and I definitely prefer ones that use more natural sweeteners such as coconut sugar or maple syrup.

  • Hidden nutrition - If you can squeeze more nutrition into a toddler muffin, I am here for it! Sometimes picky eaters won’t even look at zucchini or carrots, but throw them in a muffin for your toddler and it’s a different story.

The toddler muffin recipes below all hit these marks - not to mention, they’re so tasty! You might even want to snag a few for yourself.

Bananas are the only needed sweetener in this Dairy Free Banana Bread Muffin recipe which makes them a favorite muffin for my toddler. You can add a little raw honey if you are using bananas that you wish were just slightly more ripe, but they are perfect without. These are also gluten and grain free if that is important for you.

These Banana Blueberry Oatmeal Muffins would make a tasty (and quick!) breakfast option on busy mornings. Oats, like bananas, are a great source of fiber so these are a great option to help keep your child full and provide them with B vitamins. We love that this recipe uses maple syrup as it’s sweetener and Greek yogurt to add some protein to the recipe.

Just 30 minutes of time and your toddler can enjoy these Healthy Banana Flaxseed Muffins! This recipe calls for 1/4 cup of chocolate chips, which are usually full of ingredients I don’t want to feed my son. My chocolate chip of choice are the Enjoy Life mini chips which are made with all natural ingredients and allergen friendly!

Chickpea flour is a excellent addition to add more protein to a recipe, which is why I love it for toddler muffins in this Strawberry Chickpea Flour Muffin recipe! Plus, if your kid is anything like mine he’ll love these as soon as I say the word strawberry!

One of the main reasons I love this Banana Blueberry Muffin recipe for toddlers is because this recipe uses tigernut flour. If you haven’t baked with it before, it’s an AIP friendly option and is a naturally sweeter flour and adds a subtle hint of that to its recipes.

Tigernut Flour is one of my favorites to bake with but not as common. It can be hard to find in grocery stores so I usually grab a bag on Amazon!

Zucchini is high in antioxidants and great for healthy digestion which is why I love it’s addition to these Banana Zucchini Muffins! This recipe is half oat flour and half whole wheat white flour, but offers a substitution for gluten free if needed making it a good recipe for any family.

Dates are rich in antioxidants, help strengthen bones and promote brain health (all important for toddlers!) so we love that they are are used as a natural sweetener in the recipe for the Vegan Banana Date Oatmeal Muffins.

An easy way to sneak in added nutrients, the recipe for these Banana Oats Spinach Muffins results in fun, green colored muffins that your toddler will love!

These Almond Flour Banana Muffins are a great base muffin for toddlers because they are easy to switch up through toppings or flavors. In fact, you’ll find instructions included on how to turn these into banana nut, peanut butter banana or banana cinnamon muffins too!

You don’t find pear in muffins a lot, but my toddler loves it which is one of the reasons why these Pear and Banana Muffins made our kid-friendly list today! The only change I’d make is substituting out the canola oil for another neutral flavored oil such as avocado oil or light tasting olive oil - but that’s my personal preference when it comes to oils I use!

These Peanut Butter Banana Muffins are mini muffins for your mini human! A tasty toddler muffin recipe, this recipe is naturally gluten free. I love that it gives you an option to top the muffins with a homemade jam to really give it a PB&J vibe.

These Blueberry & Banana Toddler Muffins use a baking favorite applesauce base which is a natural way to add a bit more sweetness. This recipe can be made with lightly ground rolled oats or oatmeal baby cereal making it a great option for a family with a baby and toddler.
