Multiple studies have shown that having access to fewer toys encourages more creative and imaginative play and can increase a child’s attention span. Similar to the Montessori toy rotation, both Emily and I try to do a toddler toy rotation every few weeks to keep things fresh and give each of our son’s the opportunity to really explore their toys. To keep it a little more fun and interesting, we like to try out different toy rotation themes or toy rotation categories. We use these toy themes as a loose basis of the toys, puzzles and books we pull out. Below, we’re sharing our different toy rotation theme ideas and the items we use for inspiration in your weekly rotations too!
