“Let’s Pawty”

The past year and a half has absolutely flown by! Katie and I got together recently to celebrate our one year “blogaversary” (WOOF) and we were reminiscing on all of the amazing things we have gotten to do over the last year as bloggers and the last year and a half as moms. We talked about all of the fun things that we have gotten to share with you all, and what we have planned for the future.

One of the things that we both realized we completely forgot to share was the boys’ first birthday parties. Katie and I are both (admittedly) a little extra when it comes to party planning. We’re both pretty creative and crafty, and spent lots of time on all of the small details to make our sons’ first birthday parties special, and we wanted to share our ideas with you in case you need some super cute ideas for your baby’s first birthday party.

“Are you kitten me right now?!”

I have shared before that my husband and I are crazy cat people (my husband more so than I). We have three cats at home and E has naturally adopted our love of kitties during his first year. Literally, his first word was “kiki”. I credit the cats with getting E on the move; he loves crawling, and now running after them, and while they might not always be fond of his not-so-gentle form of love they can often be found hanging out in E’s room.

Between our love of cats, and my love of puns, choosing a first birthday theme for our boy seemed like a no-brainer. Once we decided on the ONE Cool Cat theme I started scouring the internet for cat-themed party supplies, which offered a surprisingly small selection, so I ended up doing a fair bit of DIY for his party. If you don’t already own a Cricut I HIGHLY recommend investing in one. I bought mine when I was planning my wedding, but have put it to use for all kinds of projects for E, especially his birthday party.

DIY Party Supplies:

  • ONE (with cat ears and tail) Cake topper

  • One Cool Cat banner

  • High chair banner

  • 1 - 12 month picture banner

  • 1 mosaic balloon number - tutorial here

Paper Goods/Decorations

Cake

I used an amazing local bakery, Island City Bakery, for the smash cake, cupcakes, and custom Cat macaroons to go with E's 1st birthday party theme. Not only were all of the treats delicious, but I got so many compliments on the adorable cat macarons! They may have been my favorite aspect of the party.

In the end E’s Purr-thday party ended up being PAWsitvitly Purrfect (okay, okay I’m done, I promise). E was surrounded by his friends and family and was so spoiled. It made for a day we will never forget.

If you have any questions on how to DIY your own decorations, shoot us a message and I’d be happy to give some tips.
