Moby Baby Wrap Carrier Review - Why We Love this Wrap!
Early on in my pregnancy I began researching different options for wearing my little one. I am constantly on the move and knew that I wanted to have an option that would keep him close to me while allowing me to be hands free. I knew from friends who have kids that there are two types of carriers we would need: one day to day carrier and one hiking/outdoor carrier. After hours of pouring over reviews and watching videos I decided to choose the Moby Baby Wrap Carrier as my day to day carrier and the Ergo 360 for our hiking/outdoor carrier. This post is all about my Moby baby wrap carrier review.

Style
I knew from the beginning that I was interested in some version of a wrap carrier. This style of carrier is ideal for anyone who is planning on wearing their little one for long periods time and planning on wearing their baby as they grow. The length of fabric that you get from the Moby baby wrap carrier allows you to use this wrap from the infant stage up the recommended weight of 33 pounds. I love that the fabric makes it easy to adjust as baby grows.
One of the most important aspect of any baby gear is its functionality, but I would be lying if I said that the “cute” factor doesn’t play a role as well. When I first saw the Petunia Pickle Bottom x Moby Evolution Wrap in “Starry Nights of Salvador” I fell in love with the bold geometric print! I liked that the print was different than most of the slings I have seen that are one solid color (like this solid charcoal one Katie has) and the black and white colors make it match almost any outfit that I wear. With that being said, be prepared to pay slightly more for the patterned options vs. the one color version.
Care + Cleaning
One of my favorite features of this fabric wrap is that its machine washable. Eli spits up ALL THE TIME, so its so convenient to be able to take it off and throw it into the washing machine whenever I need to. The material has held up very well to frequent washes, which is always a concern of mine. The material has stayed soft and doesn’t show any signs of wear after at least 15 washes.
Fit of Moby Baby Wrap Carrier
The Moby wrap is a “one size fits all” wrap. I am always a little skeptical about products that come in one size fits all, but when it comes to a wrap like this I’m not sure that there are any other options. The length of this wrap is plenty long enough for a woman of any shape and size. I am heavier chested and have broad shoulders and I have no issues with running out of fabric. Katie is tall, has a long torso and is smaller chested and she loves the way her Moby wrap fits as well. Every tutorial that you will watch will also offer two locations to tie the ends of your fabric, either behind your back or wrapped once more and tied in front. This helps you fit the wrap best to you and to baby.
Moby Baby Wrap Carrier Comfort
As a Mom and as a physical therapist, comfort is the most important aspect of any baby carrier in my opinion. Lets be honest, if a carrier is uncomfortable you are much less likely to use it, and if its uncomfortable it’s probably not the best for your body. With that being said, I found the Moby wrap to be extremely comfortable! The wide panel that crosses each shoulder encourages me stand up taller and not slouch forward, taking the pressure of my lumbar spine. The way this wrap uses the entire upper back and shoulders to support the baby’s weight, as well as the support panel in the front to help support my core, means that my back is not killing me by the time I take it off.
The fabric of the wrap is very soft which is nice for me and for baby. The fabric is also light and breathable, and as someone who sweats just walking up the stairs this was very important to me. Don’t get me wrong, I am still sweating by the time I take off the wrap but the breathable material keeps it to minimum. Lastly, I love the fact that this design does not have any buckles or straps. I wear Eli when I’m up and about, but also occasionally when he’s fussy and I need to get work done on the computer. Not having to worry about a clip or buckle digging into me while I’m sitting down is nice perk.
Ease of Use
I have raved about the Moby wrap this far. Don’t get me wrong, I love this wrap and I wear it frequently, but getting to this point took some work! The wrap does come with detailed instructions on how to tie the wrap, but being a visual learner I had to watch multiple YouTube tutorials to figure it out. Due to the long length of the fabric I struggled with wrapping it around without getting it tangled or twisted. For the first 5 or 6 times I used it I had to have my husband help me get it on. Even now that I am able to wrap myself I still struggle with the wrap being twisted and getting the panels to lay flat around the shoulders. Once baby is in the sling I generally have to make some minor adjustments or tighten it around the waist, but each time is becoming easier.
OVERALL THOUGHTS ON THE MOBY BABY WRAP CARRIER
Overall I love this carrier! I do think that there is a learning curve to figuring out how to apply the wrap, but once the wrap is on it is comfortable, encourages good ergonomics, keeps me and baby cool and allows me to get a lot done while still getting plenty of snuggles with my little man.
