I feel like I was writing my post about stocking stuffers two weeks ago, but taking care of a baby while chasing a toddler around really makes the time fly by! The snow if FINALLY starting to melt in Michigan and that means it’s time to start planning for Easter. This will be Baby Rea’s first Easter, and while I can’t wait to put her in a cute spring dress and make her wear the same bunny ears that her brother wore, I found myself asking the same question I did when E was a baby, “Does my 5-month-old really need an Easter basket?” After thinking about it for a few days I came to the same conclusion I did his first Easter, YES!

Not only is it about the pictures (come on Moms, we all know that plays into it a little bit) but it’s also about the tradition. I have memories of growing up and hunting for my basket on Easter morning. I want to be able to create those traditions with my family, and while I know she won’t remember this year, I will. Not to mention that my very quizzical two-year-old would probably have some questions if the Easter Bunny brought him a basket and not his sister.

Two years ago (HOLY CRAP! time flies) I wrote one of my FIRST posts for the blog post Sensory Friendly Easter Basket which included a couple of items that I had gotten for E’s first Easter, but this year I had even more ideas for Baby Rea. I know that traditionally stocking or Easter basket stuffers are inexpensive “trinkets” that get used a few times and then end up being lost or forgotten. Katie and I make a strong effort to curate ideas for our kiddos that will actually be used, will last more than a week or two, and also won’t break the bank.

Read on to see what our top picks are this year for the best items to fill your baby’s Easter Basket

Whirly Squigz

Squigz were one of my favorite toys to use in the pediatric clinic and quickly became one of E's favorite toys as a baby (read why here) Squigz are perfect for building fine motor skills, grasp, and hand eye coordination. They are one of my favorite toys to keep my little ones entertained while were out to dinner because they suction to the table so there no bending over to pick them off the ground constantly. When I saw that they had a Squigz that spins I knew I had to get one for Baby Rea. AND it's shaped like a pretty flower?! Perfect for Easter!

Easter Chick Teething Mitten

Before we left the hospital we realized that Rea was going to be a thumb sucker. E never was, so watching her try and suck her tiny thumb is honestly one of the cutest things! Because she's so small and her fine motor skills are still developing she sometimes struggles to get just her thumb in her mouth and most of the time she ends up with her whole fist in her mouth. My Mom found this adorable Chick shaped teething mitten for her Easter basket and it's perfect for her. The bar on the inside makes it easy to hold onto even for her tiny hands and the "wings" are just the right size and shape to be sucked on.

MiniSpinny

When I began getting the baby toys back out in preparation for Rea's arrival, I was shocked at how much E was drawn to them. The SpinAgain was one of his all time favorite toys when he was younger (check out my review) and now he loves to sit it in front of his sister so she can watch as the colorful discs spin. When I saw that Fat Brain Toys made a smaller, portable option called the MiniSpinny I knew it would be the perfect addition to my baby's Easter Basket. This will become a diaper bag staple!

Itzy Ritzy Teething Mitten

Did I mention that my daughter loves to put her hands in her mouth?! She is almost 6 months old and will soon be getting her first tooth so she is drooling constantly! Spring time in Michigan can still be pretty chilly, so I always worry about her getting her fists covered in drool and then getting cold when we are out and about. When I saw the Itzy Ritzy Teething Mitten I thought it just might solve that problem! It keeps her hand completely covered so she won't get cold, but can still get the satisfaction of chewing on her hands. Plus, it's adorable!

Sunflower Sunnies

I am a big enough woman to admit that this item was a complete impulse purchase, but can you blame me?! I know that they are ridiculous, and she might hate them, but if I can get even one picture of her in these adorable floral sunglasses it will be worth it. I also love the addition of the strap to help keep them on her head, if she tolerates them lol

Indestructible Books

Books are always high on my list for gifts for my kids. If you have a little one, you know how tough little hands (and let’s be honest, mouths) can be on books. If you haven’t seen the indestructible books you are missing out. These books are the perfect book for teething babies and toddlers. They are chew-proof, rip-proof, non-toxic, and washable! Literally, they CAN NOT be ripped (my two-year-old has tried) AND you can throw it in the dishwasher if it gets dirty. These are the ultimate diaper bag book! E was a huge fan when he was little and still loves them. I found the classic Peter Cotton Tail and knew it would be the perfect last addition to Rea’s Easter Basket.

Bunny Rattle

The last item I'm adding into my baby's Easter basket is this bunny rattle. Rattles are so fun for babies as they are developing their grip since they can shake them and hear the noise. I love that this rattle is on-theme for Easter but will still be useful long after! My mom found this exact one locally but here is a similar option available online.
